Time of Many Languages

It Has to Be About the Patient

What is Health Care in 3 Dimensions? Think of it as context for service delivery models, matched to provider networks, with a variety of outcomes measured as products of patient journeys. Why is context important? To substantially lower costs, rather than nibble at the margins, the data scientists need a new way to create virtual populations that contain services that did not occur, compared to those that do occur.

The transition needed, in thinking about cost reduction, is much like reverse engineering; work on not doing services, which is a major thrust of Medicare vis. MedPac with its plan to promote potentially preventable metrics to directly reduce utilization.

Clearly for the provider community and health system executives, this transition will be difficult; some will be threatened some will be in denial, and some will embrace it. I consider the present phase of health care the time of Babylon, the time of many languages; the next the enlightenment where the healthcare communities look outside of their comfortable boundaries to understand context. The next is the phase of modernity where the high dimensions inherent to HCn3D are presented to all players in simple understandable ways.
